The Ellen G. White Estate has recently launched a new interactive, user-friendly Web site (egwwritings.org) featuring the writings of Ellen White in the original English, modern English adaptations, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, and Romanian. Material is available in a variety of formats including e-books, audiobooks, PDF files, and more. Devices supported by the site include the Amazon Kindle, iPad, and Barnes and Noble Nook. The site also offers a free downloadable app for the iPhone and iPad. Social media options such as Facebook and Twitter are available for sharing.
To obtain hard-copy translations in languages not yet supported by the new site, visithttp://publishing.gc.adventist.org/publ_houses.htmlfor a full listing of the 62 publishing houses operated worldwide by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. One response to this problem has been to paraphrase Ellen White’s writings to convey her concepts without necessarily following her wording. The White Estate has produced A Call to Stand Apart (2002), a paraphrased new compilation for young adults, and Jerry Thomas has writtenMessiah (2002) and Blessings (2008), paraphrases of The Desire of Ages and Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing. These have drawn a wide and appreciative readership, but this is not the only approach to the issue.
