Baker has headed Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, since 1996. Mbwana was a church administrator and university president before becoming president in 2002 of the Nairobi-based division. Schoun has served as president of Adventist World Radio since 2001. Stele has been Euro-Asia president since 2000.
The new members replace three vice presidents who are retiring—Mark A. Finley, Eugene Hsu, and Gerry D. Karst. A fourth position was made vacant by Ted N. C. Wilson’s election as General Conference president.
Five other vice presidents were reelected to five-year terms: Lowell C. Cooper, Armando Miranda, Pardon K. Mwansa, Michael L. Ryan, and Ella S. Simmons.
Associate Secretary Homer W. Trecartin was named undersecretary.
Two other associate secretaries, Rosa T. Banks and Agustin Galicia were reelected.
Juan R. Prestol was reelected undertreasurer, and the three associate treasurers remain in their positions: George O. Egwakhe, Daisy Orion, and Roy E. Ryan. J. Raymond Wahlen II, previously director of the church’s SunPlus Accounting Software, was also elected as an associate treasurer.
